Dentures

A denture is a removable appliance designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissue, closely resembling your natural teeth and potentially enhancing your smile. There are two types: complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all teeth are missing, while partial dentures are for patients with some remaining teeth. Partial dentures not only fill gaps but also prevent nearby teeth from shifting.

Complete dentures can be either conventional or immediate. Conventional dentures are made after teeth removal and gum healing (4-6 weeks), while immediate dentures are placed right after extraction, allowing the patient to avoid being without teeth. Adjustments are needed as the tissues heal.

Dr. Haskin and Dr. Goldstine offer both complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are for patients missing all their teeth, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. They will work with you to determine the best option based on your specific needs.

The timeline varies depending on the type of denture. Dr. Haskin and Dr. Goldstine provide conventional dentures, which are made after the gums heal (typically 4-6 weeks), and immediate dentures, which are placed right after tooth extraction, allowing you to avoid being without teeth during the healing process.

Dr. Haskin and Dr. Goldstine recommend daily cleaning of your dentures using a soft brush and mild cleanser. It’s also important to schedule regular check-ups to ensure the fit remains comfortable and adjustments can be made as needed.
